SystemsLink Staff Spotlight: Operations Senior Analyst

Next up in SystemsLink’s Staff Spotlight series is our Operations Senior Analyst- Darshan Hirani.

Darshan quietly works behind the scenes, helping to analyse data and identify energy saving opportunities. We wanted to shine the spotlight on him, and our analysis team, as they’re instrumental in supporting customers and TPIs with our vast software solutions.

There’s so much that goes on behind the software and the data, and it’s our experienced & skilful Analysts – like Darshan- who work their magic.

We sat down with him to learn more about his role his career…

What does your role involve?

My role is primarily helping businesses monitor and save on their energy consumption and spend by providing support and training on various SystemsLink software and services.

How long have you worked for SystemsLink?

I started in October 2019.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I studied Chemical Engineering at university and one of the main elements of the degree was to analyse multiple streams of data and solve problems, which came natural to me.

My final year dissertation was to create a PVC production plant from top to bottom which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this directed me towards a career in energy.

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, always say yes and then figure out how to do it later.

Words I have lived by all my life; both personally and professionally.

What do you like most about your job?

Providing consultancy work through analysing customer data, reporting, data migration, and solving problems our customers encounter. I get to be involved in different, exciting projects.

What has been your favourite project at SystemsLink; or the most exciting thing you’ve worked on?

Consultancy work for TfL. This was my first project when I started as SystemsLink and it has evolved into a much bigger project since then.

Another project I really enjoy is creating bespoke reports and migrating data into our software for our new clients.

What are the challenges you’ve faced in the industry?

Constantly having to adapt our software and services in order to keep up with the volatile market.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Oh I think it definitely has to be teleportation! Who wouldn’t want to get from A to B in a blink? I have probably spent 25% of my life on the road.

And finally, what’s something not many people know about you?

I am fluent in the languages Japanese and Gujarati. I am an award-winning events musician and do video and music production as well.
