Water Deregulation 2017

April 1st is fast approaching, which means that water deregulation is becoming an important topic.  Non domestic customers in England, for the first time, will be able to choose their water supplier as the retail market opens up.  The marketplace in Scotland went through the same process in 2008 and while some customers have chosen to stay with their original supplier, some have reported savings of between 15% and 20%.

There are many unknowns at present; Will there be significant savings to be made?  How will the change of supply process be managed?  Will there be new billing formats?

The marketplace in Scotland went through the same process in 2008 and while some customers have chosen to stay with their original supplier, some have reported savings of between 15% and 20%.

We are working to ensure that the Energy Manager software is able to handle the changes that come from the deregulation process.  We understand customers will have concerns about the new billing formats, ensuring invoices can be loaded into the software as well as making the most of the Monitoring and Targeting tools to identify potential savings.

The standard of invoicing that you receive from a supplier should be a key factor when it comes to the procurement process.  Historically, many water suppliers have been reluctant to offer electronic billing formats, but with the change in the marketplace we anticipate a change to meet customer demands.

We continue to liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure Energy Manager is able to accommodate the changes that will arrive from April 1st.  If you have any questions or requests for the software to handle the changes, please email support@systems-link.zendesk.com
