Next up in our Staff Spotlight series is our Service Delivery Manager, Paul Hylands.
Paul is fairly new to SystemsLink having taken on responsibilities as part of the Service Delivery team.
He brings with him over 25 years’ industry experience and knowledge in customer environments and has been, until recently, working for Digital Energy, a software house that was acquired by the Inspired PLC Group in March 2022.
We sat down with Paul to share some insights into his role across the two brands and his career path so far.
What does your role entail?
I look after the Digital Energy platform which was purchased a while ago by Inspired. This involves interacting with clients, dealing with renewals and upgrades and generally keeping Digital Energy ticking over.
More recently I have taken on new responsibilities for SystemsLink as part of the Service Delivery team which involves Service Lead Agreement (SLA) reporting for clients and being a point of escalation for urgent queries along with responsibility for admin relating to client invoicing.
How long have you worked for SystemsLink?
I have worked for SystemsLink for just over a year but was with Digital Energy for 5 years prior.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I found that I had a natural ability to be able to speak to people on any level and a desire to help customers and teach others to do the same.
What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
That it’s far more important to work for a company that really treats you as a person and helps you to grow, than it is working for a company because of the salary you are paid.
What do you like most about your job?
Interacting with clients and customers to bring value to their everyday experience, as well as working with new colleagues on new processes.
What has been your favourite project at SystemsLink?
The integration of Digital Energy into the Inspired PLC Group. Learning new and better ways of doing things and adapting to new experiences. Also being able to pass on my experience and being recognised for that.
What are the challenges you’ve faced in the industry?
The energy industry is a minefield. There is so much to learn, not only about energy itself but the multitude of things that go with it. It is constantly growing and changing, and you need to ensure you are willing to grow and change too.
Tell us something about yourself
I live in Manchester with my partner Stuart and our two cats, Dusty and Smudge.
And finally, if you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I think it would be that I was able to effect change simply by declaring the change needed. It would be amazing to see things that affect people, the climate, homelessness, cruelty to children and animals and so on by a simple declaration; a waving of a magic wand so to speak.
A big thank you to Paul for sharing more about his role and how he currently supports clients across SystemsLink and Digital Energy.
If you are a customer and you would like to discuss how we can help you get the most out of your software, or if you’ve got any challenges you want to overcome and see how the software currently works for your organisation, please contact Paul directly on paul.hylands@systems-link.com or call on 01234 988 855.
