The next colleague to feature in our Staff Spotlight series is Simon Nagington one of SystemsLink’s Implementation Project Managers.

Simon helps new clients seamlessly integrate onto the Energy Manager Software, ensuring that all the correct data is transferred to the new databases.
Simon is a true believer in SystemsLink software; he liked the product so much as an end user that he came to work for us! Simon helps us understand what the user wants from our software and how we can better deliver it.
We asked Simon:
What does your job entail?
I work with new clients to successfully transition them onto the Energy Manager Software. I mostly work on the data side of things at the moment, so working with clients to migrate their data over to their new databases.
How long have you worked for SystemsLink?
I’ve been here 10/11 months. But I worked with the SystemsLink software in my previous role with Wigan Council for nearly 10 years before I came here. This has given me a proper insight into how the clients might be using the software and helps me understand how best to tailor the implementation to their needs.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I got into it as a bit of a hippy. Climate change is an issue I care a lot about and I ended up working within energy management for so long that I became a bit of expert on the Energy Manager Software. And the rest is history!
What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
In technology driven sectors, you can’t get too settled or complacent. Things are changing all the time and you need to be ready to change with it.
What do you like most about your job?
The people! Everyone in the team is great and I enjoy getting to know new clients.
What has been your favourite project at SystemsLink?
I don’t think I could pick just one – I’m enjoying learning something new with every project I work on. Nothing is the same and there’s no chance of ever getting bored here!
What are the challenges you’ve faced in the industry?
I think this industry as a whole is always facing challenges. The energy sector is always changing with new policies, new charges, new net zero goals; all changes that are needed for us to keep up with.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Spreadsheet Man. If I could just make a VLookup work on the first try, every try, that’ll do me!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I’m a dad to two human sons and a crazy dog. I’m also a musician so I spend as much of my free time playing a range of instruments, as well as being interested in recording and sound engineering.
Thanks to Simon for taking the time to speak to us and tell us more about his role. We look forward to seeing the projects develop across the year.
