Implementation Project Manager

The next employee to feature in our Staff Spotlight series is one of our Implementation Project Managers- Grace Emmence.

Grace has worked for the Group for over four years; starting out as a Graduate and progressing to become an Operations Project Manager. Now she applies her exceptional project management and planning skills here at SystemsLink in the Implementation Project Management (IPM) team which has tripled in size over the last 12 months.

Carry on reading to learn more about Grace, her role and how her career choice was written in the stars…

What does your role involve?

I work with new clients to determine their requirements from SystemsLink and implement our software into their company in a way that suits all their needs.

This could be anything from Energy Manager to UNIFY Apps to the Web Portal. The team and I have a wide range of responsibilities that vary from training in the morning to drawing process maps in the afternoon.

How long have you worked for SystemsLink?

I joined SystemsLink in August 2023 but have worked for Inspired Group since November 2019.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

Project Management must run through my veins as it’s very much a family affair! My dad is a Project Manager, so the role is something I have always been aware of and known my strengths would complement.

However, one of the main reasons I chose to move to SystemsLink was to push myself in my personal development.

Communication and confidence were areas I knew I wanted to work on and improve upon, so the client facing role was a perfect fit in using the skills I already had and allowing me to better myself as well.

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Even when projects look as though they are identical, no two things are ever the same.

We follow a set process for implementing software, yet no two clients have ever had the same requirements, so it’s important you’re able to adapt and tailor your processes to fit each client’s needs, and not be rigid with your thinking.

What do you like most about your job?

I love that I have such a supportive team and that I am learning every day. We all come from different backgrounds and so can help each other in the various aspects of the role and share our skills.

What has been your favourite project at SystemsLink?

I haven’t been here long enough to pick a favourite yet, but I really enjoy working on projects related to the Inspired Group.

As I have the knowledge of the business having worked there using Energy Manager for nearly four years, I can really see the benefits of the projects.

What are the challenges you’ve faced in the industry?

I joined Inspired on a graduate scheme in late 2019 and almost right away experienced both COVID and then the energy crisis in quick succession.

It was a challenge to learn about such a complicated industry remotely and then throw in a crisis on top of that- I’ve had to learn to adapt quickly to all the recent changes in the world of energy!

And finally, if you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I would love to be able to speak all languages. I tried to learn Japanese before I visited last year but only managed a few basic words.

Knowing I could speak to locals on my travels would be amazing and I’m sure would make for a few unique experiences I’d otherwise miss out on!

A big thank you to Grace and the rest of the Implementation Project Management team who are always are on hand to help clients use their energy management software effectively.

They specialise in in-depth workflow analysis and tailored training to help organisations get the very most out of Energy Manager and our UNIFY apps, to ensure that it continually adapts as your business’s needs grow.

You don’t know what you don’t know and there may be areas of the software that you do not currently use but that could benefit your team in 2024.

If you are a customer and you would like to discuss how we can help you get the most of out of your software, or if you’ve got some questions around the system not quite working how you want it to, please contact Grace or the rest of the IPM team directly on sales@systems-link.com or call 01234 988 855.

Stay tuned for another Staff Spotlight!
