Did you know that 70% of system implementations fail if they don’t have the right methodology and training provisions?
At SystemsLink, we’re really proud to have a dedicated team of skilled Implementation Project Managers (IPMs) to help our clients successfully set up and operate the systems that they use to achieve maximum long-term value.
With our training and support, clients become more confident that they’re getting the very best out of the software they’re using and that it works for all their tailored requirements, as their business needs grow.
We recently sat down with one of our IPMs – Becki Major – to share more about her role and how she helps clients across all industries to get the very best out of their energy software.
What does your role involve?
As IPMs our role is varied, but our main focus is working with customers to implement SystemsLink software into their business, or organisation, effectively.
Our team utilise a proven methodology that commences a project by conducting an in-depth project requirement analysis before carrying out any data design and migration, workflow analysis and tailored training.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I have quite a methodical way of thinking, and really enjoy problem solving and when I heard about the IPM role, It sounded like a great opportunity to use my energy industry and relationship management experience whilst learning completely new skills. 8 months in to the role, I can say it has been exactly that!
What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Recognising that every person has a different communication and learning style and that by adapting to that you can have more effective conversations.
Throughout my career so far, every role I’ve had has had a relationship management element, from account management to team leading, and the more I understood this the more effectively I have been able to communicate.
What do you like most about your job?
The variety it brings.
The implementation methodology has several different stages and associated tasks, so no one day is focussed on the same thing. Even when you do come around to an activity again, each customer’s objectives for the software means their project is guaranteed to be different from other projects.
What has been your favourite project at SystemsLink?
This will sound very cliché, but I don’t think I could pick a favourite project. Each implementation has been completely different to the next!
What are the challenges you’ve faced in the industry?
The last 4 years have been a very turbulent time in the energy industry.
COVID brought its challenges, but then we experienced the energy market crisis and the volatility of these past 18 months have led to more unpredictability.
This has been exceptionally challenging as it doesn’t just impact your role, but also your home life and that of everyone you know. Whilst bills skyrocketed, it became mainstream news for everyone.
And finally, if you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Not very original, but definitely teleportation. It would make seeing family who live 5,000 miles away much easier and would mean I didn’t need to fly (which I hate!).
Thank you to Becki and the rest of the Implementation Project Management team for all their help and training for our clients.
Becki and her colleagues offer support pre, during and post-implementation with regular health checks. So if you’re not sure your organisation is getting value out of your energy software, speak to our experts who will take the time to understand your requirements and help embed the software into your organisation seamlessly.
