Operations Coordinator

Our Staff Spotlight series continues and the next employee to feature is Sue Ashton, Operations Coordinator.

Celebrating 17 years of dedication, Sue has been an integral part of our company for nearly two decades! Sue has seen the business evolve alongside the energy sector itself.

From early year systems to today’s sophisticated energy software solutions, her experience and deep understanding of both our technology and out customers have made her a trusted voice across the organisation.

We sat down with Sue to talk about her journey with the company. She shared insights into the main responsibilities of her role, what inspired her to have the career she has today, and what she likes most about her job.

We asked Sue…

Please give us a brief summary of your main responsibilities

Managing queries coming in via the Support Desk relating to all SystemsLink products, and responding in an efficient and timely manner.

How long have you worked for SystemsLink?

17 years in February.

In my 17 years I’ve seen the company grow from a team of approximately eight, into the business it is today and remaining true to its core values.

I’ve seen industry and client expectations evolve significantly, particularly around innovation, technology and pace, and SystemsLink has continued to adapt to meet those changes.

While the scale, systems and brand have grown, most recently through our rebrand, our commitment to client relationships and support has remained the same. I think the consistency alongside our willingness to evolve has been key to our long-term success.

What inspired you to have the career you have today?

It found me, and I found I really quite liked it!

What’s the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Knowing the product well, but consistently doing what you’ll say you’ll do on time and with care, builds more trust.

What do you like most about your job?

Getting solutions to a customer quickly, gives a sense of accomplishment when problem-solving.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Emotional x-ray vision – the ability to understand what someone is really frustrated about, even when they can’t explain it well themselves.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Don’t get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life. It is important to maintain a healthy balance between professional, commitments and personal fulfilment.

I love singing and horse riding, as both activities provide a valuable sense of perspective and are brilliant for my mental well-being.

Thank you Sue for taking the time to share some insights into what it’s like being an Operations Coordinator, and how the SystemsLink brand has changed over the years.
